
Get your employees certified today in Aerial Lift Platform Training, also referred to as Manlift, Scissor Lift, Boom Lift, Cherry Picker, Sky Jack or Mobile Elevated Work Platforms. This is a piece of machinery with many names. The scissor lift certification training has two parts to it that has to be completed by the student in order to be certified.
Part one - which includes a competency evaluation (writing a true & false test) and review.
Part two- n - consists of an onsite evaluation which will verify the trainees ability to operate a specific aerial lift / manlift in a safe and competent manner.
Part One: "Concepts of Safe and Efficient Operation"
The purpose of this certified training is tp provide a general understanding of the safe and efficient operation of a "Power Operated Mobile Work Platforms."Trainees will then be able to identify specific health and safety hazards associated with operating a mobile platform.
- Review related sections of the OHS Act, CSA Standards, and Scaffold Industry
- Association of Canada specifications.
- Operating unsafe equipment or performing unsafe acts.
- Outline fines & penalties for improper use of the Aerial Lift.
- The definition of a lifting device or mobile equipment
- Complete review of "fall arrest" required, and recommended.
- Pre-shift equipment inspection and work area survey requirements.
- Review site specific Hazards, and controls for safe operation of a Boom Lift.
- Review safety decals, load capabilities, and specific equipment requirements.
- The fifteen key elements for the safe operation of a "Powered Elevated Mobile Aerial Work Platform."
The theory part takes approximately two hours. All training is performed onsite and can be scheduled anytime to meet your company's needs.
Part Two:
All scissor lift operators must successfully complete the theory portion of this training prior to being evaluated for onsite-specific equipment.
Each operator will be tested to ensure they can safely and efficiently operate your site-specific equipment. Each evaluation will be conducted and completed during regular working shifts, wherever it possible. On successful completion of the theory and practical evaluation of the course, the trainees will be certified as a "Power Operated Mobile Platform Operator."
Pre-shift equipment inspection, and work area survey.
- Uses proper personal protective equipment as required by the OH&S Act and respective employer.
- Use and proper fitting of fall arrest (harness) device
Aware of the manufacturers specs for specific equipment (load limits, etc.).
- Uses a signaler or spotter where required.
- Operates lift only on solid & level ground.
- Operates lift with all other workers clear of the site.
- Closes off site when doing major overhead work/projects.
- Smooth/safe operating speed for various plant conditions.
- Lift mobilizes only when the unit is in fully lowered position.
- All tools and associated equipment safely stored on the lift platform.
Practical evaluations take approximately one-half (.5) hour. Train The Trainer is available om request.
